Man, I hope you are not saying that you haven't been collecting, and sending in, sales tax. Each county has a different rate, but it all gets sent to the state. There are penalties for sending it in late.
ALL of your questions can be answered at the following website. Go through the steps of making your own "business kit", as it is invaluable information to have! You can immediately download all of the forms, and it is all good information to have on hand, especially since it is right from the state of Ohio.
Ohio First Stop Business Connection
The state sends you out all of the information when you send in your form, and $25.00 fee, for your Service Vendor's License. If you haven't done that yet, the time to do it is right now. It will be included in the "kit" that you download. Also...... Some of the forms originally were completely "locked", in other words, you had to print it out on your printer and either type in, or write in, the information. The Secretary of State has all of these forms now in a semi-unlocked state, meaning you can type the information in on your computer, then print it out and sign it. Since all of this falls under the Ohio Secretary of State's jurisdiction, the forms included in the kit should be setup the same way now. If not, you can do a search at the Secretary of State website, and download the newer forms on an individual basis. The website is listed below. Get the kit first though, as that way you will know what forms you will need.

Myself, I have a very good friend who is an awesome accountant. He does all of my taxes, and keeps me running in the right direction, all free of charge. Well, there was that huge willow tree that fell across his driveway back in March that I cut up for him. Basically, we trade services. It would be very prudent to look for an accountant, especially if you can find one who will work out a deal for lawn and landscaping services.

I was under the impression that ANY service rendered for money was taxable...... Hmmmm.... Am I wrong here? Does your accountant know an angle that I do not? I would call my own accountant on this one, but he is in meetings all week for changes in tax law.
Let me know what you find out on this one. I looked over the Ohio Department of Taxation FAQ's, and didn't see anything that would exempt mowing from taxation. But, I am no accountant!

All services rendered is correct. Years back used to be just on materials like fert, plants, mulch ect... than it was chnged to all services. The whole state just seen a 1% increase just last year. All counties vary. Plus there is talk of a luxury tax that will pertain to certain industries. Dog grooming, dry cleaning and some other services. Landscape was on that list when i saw it but i havent heard anything since.
