  • Acreage shredding/mowing

Okay guys (and gals) I'm new to this forum so if what I ask has been covered, please forgive. I am attempting to begin a small business in commerial lot and large acreage mowing-i.e tractor and shredder. My problem is getting in contact with many of the real estate firms which own much of the large, open tracts in the area which I would like to bid on. Who is the person to contact withing these comapanies? What approach should I use? Also, I've planned on going the low rate route-my equipment and overhead isn't terribly much so I can undercut by a decent amount what some are charging for this service. Would the "low-bidder" in these cases be generally discounted? Thank you...

be careful about low balling if your are new to this business, you MAY not know what can go wrong. This may be why you are lower.
Second if you are low balling keep it resonable. Don't be like the guy charging 20$ for two acers.
Third don't forget how rough this type of work is on equipment. This may be somthing to think about before you get into a long term contract.

I don't think you being a low baller for this type of work would discount you from getting THIS type of work. Just remember the industry standards are ther because it is what the industry has found is needed to profit. Your overhead may be lower but you need capitol to grow. The companies you are low balling may aready have the equipment they need.

if you are bush hogging the going rate around here is $40.00 an hour but with the bush hogs they do three or more acres an hours now on highway 60 west of of lake wales is a piece of property that is for sale has 23 miles of road frontage (70,000+/- acres) and it looks like it hasn't been cut in a million years. I am sure they would entertain a low bid.
