With another of my service type businesses, I tryed this and there were amazing results.
I built up flyers that had services and such on it that if you respond to this flyer in particular you get all sorts of great savings on the particular services. Basicly a coupon type flyer thing that would expire. I then went to a couple housing developments, and passed them out. I went to the main entrance/exit place at 6:00 AM, and started handing them to people on their way to work. at the beginning people wouldn't stop, but after a while I kind of got used to the humiliation and started being more forward. I handed out a lot of flyers that way, and another person was doing it in the development down the road a bit. I would see those people driving down reading the flyer the other person had handed out.
That afternoon, I went through the neighborhoods making sure everybody recieved one. That was also kind of a humbling experience, especially when they would answer the door and kind of say: "you again!"
We handed out about 400 flyers in all and got about 40 jobs off of it. I was very impressed at the result. My boss at that business who made me do that, really knew how to get business!
Just thought I would pass on the idea. It can certainly be one of the most humbling experiences if nothing else!
