  • handing out flyers.

I have read alot about flyers here but need help with this.

I Know not to put them in mail boxes, what about newspaper boxes. I always thought it was rude, But a guy in town i know has had great luck with it.

Is there a differant % of return between doors and paper boxes??

also how many do you guy's but out each spring.

I put out around 1000 flyers last spring a gained 3 new soild accounts and some referrals from those accounts. I would get up at 5.00 on Sunday morning and put them in with customers sunday paper. It seemed to work for me, in fact that's what I'm doing today is designing my spring flier, something new I'm trying is adding coupons at the bottom.

    regards,

Don't put them in the mailbox its against the law in most places. I the door or on the doorknob has always worked for me. I like the idea about the Sunday paper though. How about paying the paper person to deliver them for you when they deliver the paper??? Anyone tried it???

If you are going to put them in the paper, you might as well do them as inserts. This way it costs you less money to produce, saves you time and hits every person with a paper. If you want to reach individual houses then direct mail or door hangers will work best.

I did the door knobs last year and will not ever do them again. In many instances I would walk up to the door and their dogs would start to bark......that would either wake them up if it was still early or would disturb what activity they were doing with their family. Secondly, there are many hills and valleys where I am and it is just not worth the walking to get a few new clients.

There were several incidents where I was asked what I was doing or told to leave them alone. Also, quite a few had no solicitation signs at their front door.

Taping them on the mailbox is the way to go, or I will also hang them on any decorative part of the mailbox. I have not had any complaints from the post office or potential clients and can do hundreds more in the same ammount of time.

          Just my 2cents.

Not quite sure where you are located but I have cought a lot of sh#$ taping ot hanging them on the mail box. The post master called me a couple of times and said they couldn't tell me where I can put them but said I could not place them on the flag or attach them to the mail box in any manner.

I quit doing that and started dropping them in driveways with a clear plastic bag and a nice rock to hold it in place. This seemed to work just as well. Also I could put out about 300 in an hour alone.

I passed out flyers on doors. What I did was fold the flyer in a manner that it would show the special that I was offering and that the word FREE was clearly visible, so it was not immediatley throw away. Hole punched it at one corner and inseted a rubber band through it.

This reduce my time when passing them out of trying to roll or fold and fitting it in the door. I simply slipped the rubber band over my fingers and would slip it right on to the door knob. I tried the taping but it took too long and trying to juggle the flyer and paper, it was a mess.

This is just what worked for me. Good Luck

I'm near atlanta doing high end residentials.....$300's up. I also use magnets on the not so windy days. I usually kick clear bags with a rock in it out into the street......I don't wanna bend over if I'm 50 and making lotsa money.

                    Sunday paper

                    Hello
Having the delivery person putting them with the paper when he delivers sounds fine. But won't that cross somethign with the paper themselves?? I mean they would normally get paid for inserts so would they have some kinda beef with u about doing that or with the paperboy??? sounds like a great idea just worried the paper might try and start trouble??

                        Dayak:

The newspaper deliverers (paperboy) is NOT usually an employee of the newspaper, but rather, an independant contractor. As such, they are allowed to deliver anything they want to. Should they choose to deliver a competing paper, they can do it. As soon as the newspaper company starts to dictate what they can, and cannot do, they become an employee, and thus are eligible for all of the benefits, etc., as any other employee. Remember, they are paid by the customer, not the newspaper company. The newspaper has no say in this matter. I know people who delivered flyers, etc., with the paper, and the newspaper company started raising a fuss, until they said "oh, then we must qualify as employees!". Of course, as soon as that was mentioned, the newspaper company shut up about it.

Find a paperboy that delivers in your target area. Offer them money to deliver your flyers with the paper. Tell them you will spot-check to see that they are all delivered. Offer them "decent" money (they are getting chump-change to deliver the paper, so that is easy) to deliver them. Forget about the paper company.

I think the paper company can still tell them not to put the fliers with the papers! They can be seperate but not in any way attatched to the paper including inside a plastic bag!.

Two sided post cards, bulk mail rates if you send enough or if not, a post card costs as much to make as a door hanger and just a few cents to send.

A VERY nice picture on the front with your company name, logo and phone number.

On the back, a list of services, special offers, whatever you want to say.

The postage on a larger postcard may be as cheap or cheaper than paying someone to deliver it for you.

                            Just a thought.
