  • My Lawn Service Flyer

I would appreciate if all would critique my lawn service flyer. It is a collection of bits and pieces of flyers posted on this forum. Thanks to all.

      I like it.

I'm also working on making a flyer. I had color graphics and I was going to print them on my computer. But I decided to eliminate the colored graphics so I could use a copy machine to copy them.
Because if computer printer ink gets wet (even a drop of water) the ink will bleed and look bad.

Where did you get your graphics? I would like to use them on the signs I put up on bulletin boards.

I'd say drop the detailed list .. the graphics tell the story ... 843-240-5955 .... (call anytime ... days, evenings weekends) drop diamond patterns borders ... leave more white space ...give a cash rebate coupon Dollar amount off first service ... move free up your time to top position ... take your name from top and make it last thing they see ... they don't care about you ... it's about them ... what can you do for them ... ?

its all about the name. You tell us to hit the same place 2, 3, 4 times in as many monthes. What the hell is the point of that if you are not building your name. He's looke for shoert and long term growth. For the short term the name may not matter. Long term the name is all he has.
Why dose mcdonalds have the arches and name in front of all there stores? Because there name is all they have. There food sucks, but when you see the arches you know where to go to get the food. For the same reson, when the home owner needs lawn work done, they need his name to stick in there heads.........

Eliminate the list of services and put "Full Service Lawn and Landscape Maintenance".

Make your name & number larger and possibly use RED . Red is an attention getter.

I would offer a coupon book for $125 worth of additional services if they sign a service agreement for the 2004 season. 5 services, $25 off each. Let's them see your other work that will probly lead to the same job later in the season or next year. Most will not use the coupons, but they still "think" they are getting $125 worth of free service.

I would be very leary of putting a price on your flyer. Some lawns may be difficult or larger than others, taking more time to perform the task.

Other comments that should be present:

"Call today for a FREE consultation".

            "Licensed and Insured"

CLCLAWN is right, you are trying to "brand" your name. If they do not need you right now, they may in the future. They need to remember your name. Make it large and bold.

Possibly put a perforated business card on the bottom. They may not want to keep the entire flyer, but they may tear off the card and put on the fridge.

Good Luck and keep us posted!

Here is my flier for critique also. I plan on removing everything that doesn't have to do with lawn care and promote those as my company grows. If I were to quit my job tommorow they would all stay so as to get any work I can. Does that sound like a bad idea mixing lawn care with other things I know and can do for my customers?

I wouldn't mix lawn care with network and computer stuff on the same flyer or advertisement. It's to unrelated.

Are you a lawn care person trying to do network and computer stuff?

Or are you a network and computer person trying to do lawn care?

If you want to offer both lawn care and network and computer stuff go for it. But I would advertise lawn care and networking seperately. You may be excellent at both lawn care and networking. But put yourself in your cusomers shoes.

Would you want a computer "geek" trimming your bushes and using power tools on your property?

Would you want a "scrub" working on your computer?

I'm not calling you a computer geek or a scrub.
But computer/networking and lawn care can be seen as that different.

On your lawn care flyer offer only lawn care and lawn care related services. Make a different flyer for computer/networking related services. Same with news paper ads and business cards.

Do both if you want but keep them seperate. Then depending on how things go you may decide to do just one and drop the other.

I like your flyer just the way you have it. But like Elwood, I would also be leary about putting the price on it. People will expect to pay that price even if their yard is 2+ acres. Even if you only deliver your flier to small yards a friend with a large yard might get a hold of it, which would be fine. But if you have $35.00 on the flier thats how much they will want to pay you.

Bo, I agree with Nick. Keep the two businesses seperate. One can send "special offers" to the others client list from time to time, but they should be run as two different businesses.

I would also tend to think that with the computer side, you would want a larger target of the market, so other means of advertising like paper, radio, etc. would be better for it.

One can feed off the other so to speak, but they need to be seperate.

                    Good Luck!

I dont think you should put the price too.
And i would put a coupon on the flyer maybe $5.00off first cut?
or $10.00, and i would also think of using something bright in the way of paper, maybe a bright green.

i have tested using a bright paper (flor. green), white, & light green and i got a much better response from the flor. green.

as for the other flyer (w/networking on it) I would get a name set up for that kind of stuff and put it on the back of your lawn flyer.

I have 2 other companys and i put the Lawn stuff on a full page one side and the other side is a 1/2 page for the other 2 companys.
this has worked for me, hope it helps
                      Thanks,

That flyer will likely generate interest from little old ladies looking for a Boy Friday to run some chores.

Both of you get rid of all the crap. All you need is your name number and Total Lawn & Property Care. Make it simple and to the point. Do something that grabs their attention. Something that they can associate your name with. It might be a logo, slogan ect. Give it a shot and post another copy of your flyers.
