Look, it's like this. Every successful business started from one person having an idea and putting that idea into motion. That being said.....DO NOT LYE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS! Tell them your situation if they ask. If they expect a large crew and only you show up they are going to question you, your business, how serious you are and the quality and dependibility of your work. Telling them you are a one man show also will give you some leeway if you get behind. It's a whole lot easier to call and say "hey, I'm a little behind and I will be there as soon as possible". Be honest in this business and you will succeed. I have worked by myself for the past 5 years (only hiring when things get really busy) and trust me...this is the best way to handle this situation. :p

        one man show

Yes, I agree. Honesty is the best policy. It pays off if you're honest. As mentioned above it does depends on the image you wish to portray. I would chose to use "serving you since 1988" or something to that effect. I can usually pick out the rinky-dink one man show versus the Professional one man show. Professionalism needs to be portrayed in your company's image. There's nothing wrong with the one man show. There's nothing wrong with a company with many crews. The job get's done either way. But professionalism can lead to quality.

well said Merlin, honesty first, I am in the same boat , but I am too the point I need 1-2 guys with me just because of the sheer volume of work we can get done in one day. And Hey, you younger guys, theres alot of us "old" guys out here bustin our buts, lol. I have kids and a wife, and still a butt kickin drive for this business. It's all about hard work, honesty, and a great base of loyal customers. Good luck all! (limping down off soap box) LOL.

          Keep at er
