this is such an easy business to start that alot of people do it. the key to keeping people around working for you is to make it so good for them that they wont leave. This may mean running in the red becuase of payroll and other expenses for a few years just to grow to a large size.

as phil will tell you... the key to this business is cash flow. this isnt a corporation that can have lots of equity tied up in debt to increase sharholder value. not having high amounts of cash flow is what makes people drop out.

alot of people look at it in two years, run the numbers and figure out that they arent making any more money than they were at their last job, and because of the expenses, and troubles of running a business, that it jsut isnt worth it.

cash flow is what it is all about. thats what makes this business work.

one of the best ways to grow is to buy out your biggest competitor.

I pay my lead guy $350.00 a week and provide him with a NEXTEL phone that he has to pay back at the end of each month, his helper I pay $325.00 now but I had him at $270.00 when he started I have a second truck F150 that they drive when i'm not working with them, and i have figured $8.00 in gas a day for the amount of intown driving they do. How do these numbers compare to everybodyelse?

What's you main biz residential or commercial. What would you say is your estimated average rate per job.

I would agree with your comment, if the jobless rate gets worse you will see more.

                  99% residential

The typical 1/3 acre lots around here pay 30-35$ all day long.

ID LIKE TO KNOW WHO U THINK YOU ARE FOOLING IF U CAN GET 200-300 ACCTS IN ONE YEAR BY YOURSELF. YOU WOULD GET THAT MANY ONLY IF YOU BOUGHT SOMEONE OUT AND EVEN THEN U WOULD PAY HEFTY FOR IT. PAY ANYWHERE FROM 100 GRAND TO A MILLION DOLLARS. MY FIRST YEAR I WAS LUCKY TO HAVE 10-12 ACCTS. MY SECOND YEAR I HAD 20-25 ACCTS. THIS IS GOING TO BE MY THIRD YEAR I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE 50-60 ACCTS THATS MY GOAL. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS EVERY TOM DICK AND MARY ARE OUT MOWING LAWNS. THUS TAKING AWAY FROM ALL THE SERIOUS INDIVIDUALS WHO WANNA DO IT FULL TIME
