  • Free Professional Lawn Care

Now that I have your attention.

This is what I am thinking of offering to client's. How you ask can I make money doing this? Here's what I am thinking about. If a customer sign's up for a yearly contract then you offer them 1-2 free cuts for every customer they refer to you that signs the same contract. so by refering 26 customers then they never pay for there lawn that year...

You may have a good idea there. Now I know what everyone is going to say, " never do anything for free " and all that.Think about it, most larger companies offer teasers like this. 30 day money back garauntee- 50 dollar mail in rebate, etc...
They know that the average person is either too forgetful or just plain busy to be bothered by the steps it takes to follow-up on these offers and a vast majority never do. So what? Well if you offer the customer a way of getting free lawncare for the season, weather it's realistic that they can refer 20 to 30 people or not is irrelivant. You still get their attention and capture their goodwill for having made that offer. Offer it only to your existing customer base if you merely want to expand X percentage, or offer it to everyone if you want to be the MacDonalds of this business. Either way you grow. Just realise that what you give up in lost revenue ( the charge you forego to mow heir lawn fr freeo ) may be more expensive than , say, a decent ad campaign. Weigh your options.
If the grass is greener on the other side, move your fence.

My best customers are the ones who agree to pay full price and I decide when to reward them for loyalty. I never discount my services; however when summer cuts take less time in July and August, I will sometimes bill "2 mowings for the price of 1" and state that on the bill. While that contributes to customer loyalty, being a consistent and dependable service matters more to customers than some gimmick. I don't do this across the board though; be selective in who you reward.
