  • Establishing Pricing

    Hi All,

I live in Canada and I'll be running my own Lawn Cutting Service part time this summer. If anybody could suggest a good template for setting prices I'd appreciate it. When you spec out a property for the first time are you just estimating how much time it'll take to do the job, the square footage involved, or a combination of both?

    Regards,

            Calypso,

Go to the Walker Mowers website. On the left hand menu you'll see "Walker Talk". Click on that and go to Vol. 21.

Rule number 2 ... you must compete with others ... find out what they are charging ... compare that to your cost and desired profit ... and understand (where) your walkaway price level is.

I was wondering if 25.00 for 6,000 sq. ft is about right. The yard is wide open with minimal trimming. I would bid this at 25. because that is my minimum price. I would like to start raising my rates and was thinking of bumping the above yard to 30.00. Any suggestions.

How long (how many minutes) do you estimate the lawn will take you with your equipment. Include unloading and loading time.
