What should I expect to pay to get in the yellow pages? I was thinking about going all out and getting like a 6'' X 6'' ad. It is my first year and it won't come out till this August but that's right around the corner. Do ya'll get many calls from the yellow pages?

    Thanks

Costs me $35.00 a month for 3x3 ad. I also get two other sub listings for that amount and a line listing in the white pages..

A 6" x 6" ad around here would run you between $2,400 to $3,500 depending on the book you are placing the ad in. But pricing differs from area to area. We started out with a 2" x 2" ad in a single phone book, and now we're up to three different books with large display ads in each.

I have a black and white quarter page display ad for "gutter cleaning" that runs me $129.50 per month and a quarter page color display ad in "lawn and grounds maintenance" that costs me $192.50 per month. There are other column ads under various headings and I pay for internet phone book services. My monthly grand total is $562.85 or $6754.20 per year. That's alot of money, but worth it to us. We are in a "less popular" market, so the bigger city books would cost double If I ran the same ads there.

My phone book rep told me the story of a plumber in the neighboring Kitsap County who wanted to grow his business. He first went from a small ad to a larger ad and doubled his business. Then he went from the larger ad to a 1/4 page ad an almost doubled his business. Then he took out a half page ad and doubled his business.

THE LAST LEAP WAS THE FULL PAGE AD. My phone rep advised him to hire a secretary for the personal touch of a real human; have 3 months in the bank to cover the ad; and get a good banker to help with the expansion. The rep also told this plumber to be prepared to give up his free time. So here is the rest of the story:

My rep kept me updated from year to year of this guy's progress. Well, half a year into the full page ad, the plumber was saying "why did I ever listen to you"? I have zero free time with 24 hr service; my headaches have quadrupled; I run a dozen trucks; and I'm making lots of money. Thanks".

Minimum cost of a full page ad is $1000/month.

How badly do you want to grow?

Thanks for the advise. I hope this ad really helps. I would like about 35 yards. I just moved to a new city. Before I knew everybody now I don't know anybody. I think this is my way to get bigger faster. I have the equipment just need the yards.
