  • Newspaper inserts went out yesterday

Although it is in the middle of the season I sent out 8000 flyers as newspaper inserts yesterday. I have only gotten 5 calls I hope some of these people will call later in the week. I'll keep everybody informed on my response rate.

I sent out 7000 last week through a temp agency. Have been getting about 4 or 5 calls a day. Never tried them in the paper, but our local paper stinks, only about 5000 subscribers out of 30,000 people.

    Keep us posted.

How much was it, if you don't mind me asking. I think I will end up paying about $500.00 for mine.

I paid $39 per 1000. So a little over $300 but I did all the printing on my own. I hope it pays off I got a total of 5 calls today.

If you land one customer of those five and keep long term, it already paid off.

Thats my thinking. I'm going to get letters put on my trailer this week and if I land 1 customer its paid for as well.

That's what I'm thinking too ... Business brings business ... referrals ... one customer leads to another ... trace the "origins" of your customer list to see how and where they came from. Like a $500 ad brought in one that lead to four others ... and the four others lead to ...

Very true yet I still hope to recieve more calls from all those flyers. I Put a Promo code on each one. I sent out yellow, blue, green, and color flyers My response has been only yellow and color. I have only received 8 calls so far. The 1% I hoped for doesn't look to expected. Next year I will make sure I send out all the flyers in May not July.

Do you think I will continue to receive calls over the next few weeks??

Well if it's anything like a direct mail response ... about 80% comes in within two weeks ... 10% within 30 days ... the other 10% unknown but printed materials are "keepers" ... you might get a response months after release from those who saved it for later reference. I do a lot of direct mail and every so often I'll get a response one and even two years from being sent out. Printed materials have a long "shelf life" ...

                    Consider It Done,
What type of verbage did you do on your flyers? Just curious...

Also, you said you printed yourself... did you use your own PC? Thanks... still learning...

Don't worry I am still learning as well. Here is a link to my flyer.
50% of my flyers looked just like this one.
10% said Too Hot?? Not Enough Time??
10% said UnHappy with your current Lawn service???
10% said How Can we help you??
10% said Having a Party or Company soon?? Call us.
10% said Call today and receive a Free T-shirt??

I just changed the wording at the bottom of the page.

I took everybody's advise and tried them all.

Flyers are great for getting your name out. I have never given away mowings to anyone. That is like discounting your services. Keep your pricing consistent provide consistent service and you will be successfull. Do not forget to cross sell your accounts.
