I have a tough job and...

I can't make everybody happy no matter how I do it?

I do see I get more complaints when I do selective pruning of threads so maybe I go back to the old move to Off Topic Forum or just delete the whole thread...

It's easier for me to just delete, why should I work extra hard to please others? Plenty more to come I promise...

Just keep on doing what you're doing & I keep on doing what I'm doing.

I don't understand why people can't just voice their thoughts & ideas without putting others down, of course it does take more time & manners!

We all think differently... LOL, I already know I'm just talking to myself here & this is a waste of time on my part.

Five ash? You know me..... We know where each other stands.

Miss Manners is just not my style. I'd do her like she owed me money....... And some folks can't appreciate reality.

Once again, thanks for having me. Maybe no one else wants me. Why you do, I'll figure out some day.

As much as a hate to admit it. I once owned a 1975 Pinto. It got good gas mileage and was my go to work beater to save my good car.

Contacts in Floriduh depends on your local court judge. In my county they rule in favor of the LCO who has year round contact that is canceled after the summer rains. I speak only from hear say on this one, I have never sued a customer only turned them over to a collection agent when they were total idiots. Small Claims Court costs more in time than you can win.

Leins work REAL good. For some, the THOUGHT of a lein (once you explain to them what it is) is enough to make them cough up the dough.

I concur, small claims is worthless considering how large it would have to be to make it viable. At that point you have let the customer get into you too deep.

Ok from all the reading here, I must be doing something wrong -er- right heck now I all confungled. As in a mass majority of business’s these days life has come to a pay forward style. Have read on here about comparing cell phone companies to LCS in the business department . With that same thought in mind I ask simple question- do you use phone first then pay or pay first then use phone. Sprint seems to think that after as many years as I have had a phone that I am a good customer. Still if I have not paid my bill by the 6th (relax it auto pay’s out of account) they send me a massage. I have always been a believer in pay now then play. Oh well I must do something different, I in the beginning with each customer I explain that I keep my over head down allowing me to do a better job (for them) at completive prices two ways. I manage my time well (er most of the time) and I don’t have all the collection fees or misunderstandings by receiving payment ahead of work. Why do Doctors collect billing info and co-pay first, why do you pay wally world before you leave the store. They know not paying me ahead of will in no means cause me o go belly up, also known is if they want my service I get paid upfront. If that’s bad business then I’m very bad. Somehow it all works out it might be the lil extras that only take 5 or 10 mins to do that make the difference I dun know. I don’t worry about it, they don’t worry about it. If there payment isn’t in my box end of first week it is due I mail a reminder that I will be there at such n such to do scheduled work if they are still in the market. I don’t worry about anyone moving or getting a divorce or such. 1 week will not hurt me nor will 2, but well you get the idea

To each his own but personally id rather have my money in my bank than the client. Its never caused a problem for my cash flow as in winter,or slow growing periods. Theres always money there. Crappy checks dribbleing in during january never impressed me much.

Above originally posted by Seascape of the snow belt.......

When you do business in a temperate zone that is tropical and even sub-tropical, you have twelve month contracts- period.

This is necessary when you have a business that serves more than a hundred clients and more than one property per client.

Since you are not in this temperate zone, your winter checks would be crappy and (small).

Since we are in this zone, our winter checks are not crappy and they dont dribble in.

Like you said, to each his own.

                  LOL!

You need to get busy and have one more child, which will become a pet shrink and save you the money you're spending on Roscoe.

I just want to comment on one particular part of something I read here...

People in the Mid West (MI, OH, IL, WI ect..) seem to start cutting lawns in APRIL and then cut through the end of Oct running over and mulching leaves and adding about a 1/2 in layer or more of thatch to peoples yard every year.. WHY do people do that??? Why do you start cutting in APRIL around here? (zone 5) I mean there is not enough spectrum of blue light or 10+ hours of good daylight so the grass for one is not healthy yet and two DOES NOT grow very much until May... To me it's another way for some contractors to Make a buck. Just like cutting over leaves.. It creates a mess looks like crap and it doesn't really need it but a lot of places do it… Also why do some services cut 2 - 2.5 inches???? I see so many lawns with scuff marks all the time and it makes the lawn look bad not to mention deprives the vegetation of proper moisture retention which leads to disease and nutrition deficiencies.

Two things here. First, the thread you replied to is OVER 2 YEARS OLD.

Second, didn't you post this in another thread? Why are you SPAMMING out the forums? Ease up a little bit man. Read... Think... THEN post.

Just for you knowledge leaves being mulched do not cause thatch. Also there are recomended cutting heights depending on the type of grass dow here in Louisiana we have a lot of cetepede grass so the cutting height is no more than 2 inches.
