  • Pricing for services

I am just starting out in the lawn care business. I would like to know how to go about charging for basic lawn maintenance. I would like to charge hourly and what would be the basic hourly wage for commercial businesses and residential? Any other information on how to charge for basic lawn care would be greatly appreciated.

Around San Antonio they seem to be hitting numbers of $35 to $45 an hour (X) times whatever time the jobs take ... fixed prices.

Don't charge hourly it will be harder to get jobs I promise. Bid the job with the hourly rate in mind.

        Hourly rate

It is my opinion that a rookie hourly rate and an experienced professional hourly rate are not at all the same. The experienced pro will have better equipment, be faster and more efficient. This is typical of course.....
It is nice to set a desired hourly rate but it is not easy. You might consider an hourly rate in your formula but quote per job, with no reference on hourly rates. That way..when you get better and faster you make more money....not less!!! If it takes and hour to do the job no at $45 per hour and you buy a new mower and get faster next year it might take 45 minutes or less. Do you reduce your price then??? I think not!!!!
So....in reality you end up making more as you get better equipment and better skills...
        Good luck!!!

The green on the lawn and the green in your pocket live in happy harmony.
