i dont have the money at the moment to get door hangers so i was thinking about going door to door and handing out business cards and on the back or front i was going to put how much it would be to mow there yard
does this sound like a good idea or not i have 1000 business cards so i dont have to worry about running out anytime soon

should i do this or not

Maybe it's just me, but if I saw someone drive down the road and throw something on my driveway, I'm pretty sure I would not do business with that guy. It seems like littering to me and also not very personal. Maybe set it on their front porch or rubber-band it to their doorknob.

            Skip the baggie idea.

Why not print up a simple flyer? Make it on the computer, print it up at Staples or a place like that. They are very cheap. Copy your biz card in the bottom corner. $50 will get you a lot flyers.

The flyer idea is a good one. A simple sheet telling what you do and then with room to give an estimate will work. Just don't burn yourself. You can eyeball most yards but be careful on the larger properties.

This last spring, I handed out a couple hundred of these - just taped them to the door - and I was able to triple my business. No magic to it, just a lot of legwork. I bet that you could do the same.
