hey i am starting my business in jan of 09. i have done this with my father for 10 years and since it has been my only job since 12 years old i am pretty good....i actually care about what i do for the customer and i also care enough that i have to be proud of the way the job looks at completion. i moved to foley AL because this is a very profittable business here and i have wanted a business of my own since i was a child. i already have truck, trailer, and gear caddy. also most of my simple hand tools and a one year old echo back pack blower my dad gave me. so for the equipment to start with here it is.
    1.Scag Freedom Z 48in w/26hp B&S engine with bagger
    2.Echo weed eater
    3.Echo edger
    4.Echo hedge trimmer
    5.Husquvarna self prop bagger

So there are the five pieces of equipment i have left to get. On the other hand i have to have a business license, insurance, advertisement. So my question is how to i go about obtaining these things...is the yellow pages worth it? dad used it and only it. any help will be greatly app. thanks alot.

The yellow pages have mixed reveiws, i have never been happy with it, but others have.

As for the equipment, buy cheap till you know it will work. You may know how to run a lawn biz, but starting one is differant. Keep your overhead as low as possible till your up and running.

Buy smaller or used untill your making money.

You may have to have a business licenses in any both the county and city you work. In Georgia, the counties have resoprosity where one county's license is recognized by other counties. In Alabama, you have to have both city and county licenses. Check state law. Also, be sure to keep a detailed accounting and documentation of all your expenses for tax purposes.

Buy cheap until you make some money is good advice. CRAIGSLIST!! Check it often. People are selling stuff really cheap these days. Take advantage.
