Just wondering what yall use(d) to create your websites?

I believe I can buy Dreamweaver8 for well less than the retail $400. Is it Good? Bad?

I just need something which will allow me to create a fully customized website capable of handling pdf files, etc, etc. Re-creating my website is my winter project....

My Recommendation

I personally use Dreamweaver for all my websites. It's a What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get and realtively easy to use. It also sets up all your site files as you go and it also FTP's the files to your server.

I would suggest going to cnet.com to see if you can find it cheaper than $400 but I think you'll most likely end up paying something close to that for it.

I use Macromedia Studio for all of my HTML, CSS, PHP and CGI scripts. It is a great tool and fully integrated. I don't use the server testing, or the built in FTP software in DW...for that I use CuteFTP and test my scripts online. Dreamweaver has paid for itself time and time again. WYSIWYG part is really nice to use, and you can still hand code as well (which I really like).

A little update. I ended up buying Dreamweaver 8 for $190 (student pricing :p) Now I will hope I can get a new website up before the spring semester starts.

I'm a M$FP man myself!

I've heard a lot of good things about Dreamweaver - Macromedia Studio.

I'm hooked on M$ Front Page, I've been using it for over 7 years now & I love it. I haven't upgraded since FP2K... It does everything I need it to do!

I prefer a CMS myself. Let the pages be generated on a dynamic basis. In this area, I have a HUGE preference for Joomla (formerly Mambo). Mambo still exists, but the original development team wanted to keep it true open source, so struck out on their own.
