Since you sound as if you are going to install OpenSuse... Here is something right up your alley.

Visit this link and click on the HD-3000.

The special thing about this card is that it DOES NOT honor the "broadcast flag", thus, it was at one time outlawed by the FCC. Since the Supreme Court has ruled that the FCC overstepped its authority, they are once again offered for sale. Be aware that scumbags from the movie/entertainment/recording industry are now trying to purchase politicians so that congress may pass a law making the sale of these illegal. You see, they would like you to record things ONLY on THEIR approved, copy-crippled machines.

    Buy them while you can.

For everyone else... These cards were developed for Linux. There IS NO WINDOWS SOFTWARE FOR THEM at this time, and most likely will never be. So, in other words, look elsewhere for your "plug and play" fix.

For the record, efforts are underway to make it illegal to make an analog recording of anything, which will render you an outlaw if you use a VCR or cassette tape recorder to record any copyrighted material in the future. As rediculous as it sounds, I am not kidding on this one.
