i put this in last night. when i switch back to the aol screen is my browser still firefox or does it revert back to internet explorer ?

You should be able to tell just by looking at it. Buttons and stuff on the toolbars look different.

**** , we just finally got indoor plumbing. one thing at a time please.
thanks, aol still has the same toolbar so i guess it's internet explorer.

First, go through the control panel to internet options and set Firefox as your default web browser. If you're using dialup, once you're connected minimize the AOL screen and open firefox to browse the internet.
