Are these LT 'puters that are priced at $399.00 - $499.00 any good ?

They are on the low end of the computer world. With Vista you need or want a minimum of 2 gb ram for it takes up 1/2 gig iself.

I have one that is moderately priced and love it so far. But then agian, I use it as an overexpensive dvd/music player but it outperforms my home cpu speed wise.

Alot of people are having trouble with Vista. It has lots of bugs so alot of companies are staying with XP until all the bugs are worked out.

          That's why I went with a Dell...

You can opt for XP on any of their 'puters.

LT...Linux OS? Only one driver can be utilizing the bay at one time. All the "devices" share the same bay.

Vista still sucks, but I am told it is getting better. One of my computers came with Millennium but was reformatted back to 98 SE and works great.

I have a Gateway XP Lap Top and a Acer XP lap top. I really can't see a big difference other than the Price. I think I paid about $ 400 for the Acer and got the 5 years Maintenance package. I sat on it and broke the screen and they replaced it. But be sure to clone your hard drive before sending it back. They don't guarantee Soft Ware.
