Sounds a little high to me. Do you really need a stick edger? I have a LE260 that gets used maybe two weeks a season. If you have a good string trimmer (T260) all you have to do is turn it upside down and it works perfect.

You will not have to use the LE on a regular basis. Mine is used on a few sites for the first edging. It is used on the walkways and any grass to concrete areas. The mulch beds are cut with a flat shovel. After the LE gets used once on such a site, the string trimmer does a perfect job and is faster. The LE is good for a first cut, but a T is all that is needed to keep it perfect.

Instead, you can get the multi-tool trimmer and edger attachment if you want. Almost all of my 2 stroke equipment is Shindaiwa and they have performed well.

Right now shindiawa has a special on the split shaft weed eater. I have two of them with the edger atachments. If you buy the trimmer engine the and two atachments you get 100.00 off. I just bought a t2500 for 349.00 minus a 50.00 rebate and a trimmer atachment for 92.00 and a edger atachment for 129.00 after the 50.00 instore rebate and the 100.00 off I got it all for 420.00 and a back pack blower is about 399.00 so you should be able to get what you want for less than 900.00 give or take a few dollars. Chavez is corect you really wont use the edger that much. once you get the edge done right you can keep it up with a trimmer. no since haveing a piece of equipment sitting around. The split shaft is nice I have the chainsaw atachment with mine too, it is great. they also have a 231 that is 279.00, I just decided to give the 2500 a chance, it has the frour stroke technology and takes two cycle gas.

                stick trimmer thought!

I prefer the stick edger to the trimmer. I am very acurate with both but the edger is faster and it is more uniformed. it is very hard to srew up with a edger but I have screwed up with a trimmer. down side to edger/ Well it is sprinklers! it can tear one up. edgers are great for defining flower beds. they wont fire mulch or chips all over the yard and they are easily controlled in such places. oh well just my two cents worth ....have a great season!
