I am looking for a back pack blower and happened to see a mcculloch brand for 159.00 Now i know this could not be as good as the echo and stihl bands, but I dont have 300.00 plus to spend right now on a blower. I was going to get an echo hand held. Any body have any time with this or any of their products? I need a blower asap but my budget is only about 200.00 right now. Any suggestions?

    Hello ematthews:

I'm Not Absolutely 100% sure about this but I thought...

They went out of Business Years ago?
We Used to be a Dealer for them!
    Another Company bought them out.
But they are not making new Equipment, that I Know of Yet?
If my Mac Distributor for the State of Georgia doesn't have the Replacement Parts, We wait up to 1 Month on Replacemant Parts!

If it's the Blower I think it is, It's A Handheld unit Mounted on a Back Pack Frame...

You would be A Lot Better Off Just Buying a Echo Hand Held for $149.99, I think that's what they go for?

Just My Thoughts & LOL I'm sure a Few More would Agree with me, I hope, Maybe? <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

      ematthews,
You might know this already, but it was my understanding that McCulloch is out of business. I don't know how large your business is, but if you are just starting, a back pack might be overkill. Alot of people on this forum will probably cringe, but when I started out I bought a craftsman blower for 89.00. Eventually I upgraded to the middle of the line Stihl handheld for 179.00

Beg, borrow, or steal. Hold out for a real blower, I think you'll find many uses for it, plus if you get the gutter-blower-outer attachment you can add gutter cleaning to your spring and fall services.

I wouldn't waste time with the 'Mac'. The best bet of the choices would be the Echo handhelds. We have upgraded to all backpacs, but the Echo hand helds treated us well for many years with zero problems. I still have about 5 hanging in the shop and they will start right up even after 8 years of use and months and years of sitting.

Loved em when we used em! Great machines.
