  • motor strong enough?

I have a question, that maybe others could answer for me.... I am currently lookin for a 36'' w/b and i know that most of these w/b of this size are equipped w/17hp & 15hp..... for example i've been lookin at exmarks w/17hp kohler engines, are these 17hp engines strong enough to carry/hold me, i weigh 165Ib on a good day and on a bad day i weigh 170 Ibs? Plus the sulky or velks weight.....

Also whats the smallest engine hp i could go in order to get the job done to haul my arse around on the sulkey?

A 17hp on a 36" mower will have more than enough power to pull you around while cutting.

A+, I have a 48" Bunton with a 14hp Kohler Command Pro and it doesn't have any problem running doubles while pulling me around on a velke. When I'm running the doubles I have to watch for clumping in the spring due to the grass being wet in the a.m. and growing so fast. In the fall when I'm running doubles again it does an awesome job mulching leaves. BTW, I'm 6'2" and weigh 210 lbs. so I'm sure you'll be fine with either motor (15hp or 17hp) on a 36" mower.
