I looked at the Cub trimmer at Lowes. It had a good feel to it. The question that I would have is of its durability. I don't know who makes them, but if it is one of the better commercial companies, like echo, I imagine it is one of their higher end consumer models or lower end commercial models, and thus, I would avoid them. I will spend my money on one of the name brand (Echo, Stihl, Shindaiwa) to ensure quality. I will also buy from a dealer rather than a discounter due to service and parts availability.

I looked at one of these today. I looked at the 25cc model today. I looked pretty good and had a good feel but the only thing that kept me from buying it was even though it is a "commercial" trimmer it does not have any kind of commercial warranty. I found this hillarious since they advertise and market it as a commercial unit but do not protect it and stand behind it as a commercial unit. I will stay away.

Don't know who built the trimmers but I do know this,
Their new wb mowers are poor quality, cheep parts from the ground up,
had a cheep feel to them. I've also heard their riders are not that great. I know this because I shopped around and just purchased a SCAG wb (love it!). Anyway, my point is, why should a company who puts out Walmart mowers also put out Cadillac trimmers when surely they could market a walmart trimmer for more profit? And zephyr is right about the warr. I'd stay away from it, just my opinion..

SCAG is the way to go!

I run the Cub Cadet ST23 string trimmers and have had good luck with them. The model ST23 has plenty of power (23cc) and good feel. I saw the Cubs that Lowes sells and they are not built like the commercial models from the Cub Cadet dealer. The model ST23 and ST35 commercial models do have a 1 year commercal warranty. You may want to check your Cub Cadet dealer. If it is anything like the dealer here they will let you try one of there demos for a day or so.
