  • Engine choice for Rebuilding old Toro Belts

I have two (1987 & 1991 model year) 52" Toro Belt drive walks that need a heart and leg transplant.

The leg part is going to be 9 spline trannys with new assorted drive parts.

With the heart part there are much more choices. The most bang for the buck I can get right now is a 13.5 HP Briggs Intek/AVS Oil Filter electric/recoil start Overhead Valve Design Cast Iron Cylinder Sleeve for $430 delivered.

Does anyone have a better deal on a small engine in the 12 to 15 hp range?

Jack D. recommends a 19hp Twin Kaw for the heart and 2 of these bad boys for the legs.
