  • Billy Goat 33" Finish Cut Mower???

I am a homeowner looking for a wide deck mower to speed up the weekly mowing chore. I have a small lot, so the rideons and anything larger than a 33" deck is overkill. I want to mulch during the spring and summer and bag the leaves in the fall.

    Is anyone using this mower?
    How is the cut?
    What about reliabilty an maintenance?
Is there a better alternative for the money?
Would I do just as well with a better 21" mower?

    All comments appreciated.
    Thanks, Mitch

Look at the Quick36, I have reviewed it myself and it is a very good mower for the money. I've been to the factory, operated a mower and talked to owners and have not heard anything but compliments.

      i have a billygoat 33'...initially when i bought it i thought it was ...o.k.
was not 0 turn, and operated like tank...
then i started to work with it...i love the cut and the machine will take a pounding.
if you can work with it you may like it. after contemplating on tradin it in
i am going to keep it...i recommend u try it out first....

        Klussman84:
The Quick36 looks like a nice machine, but I'm a little gunshy buying something that expensive over the internet sight unseen. I wish they had dealer network available.

        Rdizzy:
One of my local dealers has one in stock, I'll see if I can take it for a test drive... hmmm, I wonder if the local rentalls have them.

        Thanks, Mitch

The BillyGoat 33" is a major flop. The small 3 chamber deck design can discharge only light growth without clumping and the block-off plate mulch kit is basically worthless. These units are also somewhat difficult to maneuver and offer a poor height adjustment system. Jack D.'s dealer had 5 returned last season and no longer stocks these units. A 21" Proline would be much more efficient on small props.

Please consider the Quick 36" as a similarly priced alternative.

Thanks for the info. I will stick with what I have until I can find a good used machine, or justify the price of a new one.
