    if you can spare the extra cash i would definitly look at a wright stander. they save room on your trailer and are very easy to manuever.

        I know everyone recommends hydros but I just bought a Scag 48 belt and am very pleased. Probably will upgrade to hydro later but for now the Scag belt is great.

            what size lawns do you cut, that would help us....

            another question, do you service or have any potential customers with gated lawns? if not, then upgrade the deck size for increased productivity.

              If you buy a stander ... it's almost certain that eventually you'll bump your head ... on a low hanging branch ... you stand up while water skiing but you know the diff "wright" ...

                I have a 48" Lesco Hydro. Man, i love it. It stripes great. I highly recommend the hydro over the belt. The guys at my local Lesco are really cool. I got mine for
                $ 3399.00. Pretty good deal for a 48" hydro mower W/ a 2 year commercial warr.

                  Gates arnt a problem at all, and i will probly keep my 36 gravely just in case, because i dont think that i could get too much out of it, i have a couple small lawns and then mostly half acre lawns. I need to get a bigger mower so that i am capable of doing a nice job on big lawns and so i have time to do my other landscaping jobs. Im only employing one other guy, and by the way, what is a good starting price to pay a new employee????

                    maybe look @ a 52'' model... but i think a 48'' will do great on an .50 acre lawns....

                    startin employees out, pay about $8.50 w/base experience (knows a few things, easy to teach). if this guy has a lot of experience (knows how to operate ztr & w/b, and you can leave him for an hr. and be able to trust that he won't screw up causin ur co. to flop) and has been cuttin for other lco around your area pay him $9.75-10 an hr.... but heck the cost of livin is different in other states, i can only tell ya whats the goin rate is in va. not the rate in ohio...

                      That helps. thank you very much, this guy has no experience at all, i had to teach him how to operate a wb, trimmer, and even blower lol. But hes a fast learner. I tihnk ill pay him around 8. What hp do you recomend on a 48??

                        My Lesco has 17 hp engine. It plows through wet grass like you wouldn't believe and never bogs down. I dont know if any 48" mower has a 19 hp engine but if they do that would be premo.

                            Lesco is a scag knockoff. Its a great mower for the price but its no scag.

                              Sasquatch....

                              Exmark 2005 48'' w/b lineup now has an option of a 19hp engine... its alot more expensive, if ur funds will allow, go with.. it would be great pullin an sulky of some sort if your a lil bit bigger or cuttin really tall wet grass...
