What is the best overall (quality, dependability, price, etc) 21" walk behind on the market?

Toro, couldn't be any more of an easy answer than that

For quality and dependability - Toro or Honda - both commercial quality.

      For price - Murray.

I use Toro Pro-line and have serviced about 700 properties with them so far this year.

So Toro or Honda? I checked the Toro site and I see that they use Honda and Kawasaki motors so is Honda or Kawi better. I know this is mostly a matter of opinion but all feed back is great.
As far as Honda mowers Is the HXA Hydrostatic better and more reliable or is it just one more thing to worry about (Breakdown) for $500 more than the PDA model.
        Thanks for all the feedback.

I have the Kaw engine on my mowers and am happy with them.

I have no experience with the Honda mowers or Honda engines on the Toro.

The perfect mower would really have to depend on what you have to use it for... if you plan to use it say for an hr. each week or less a torro super recycler already mentioned b4 (beat me to the punch) would be great, sells for $529, but if your tight on funds like most of us are then the regular recycler (torro) sells for $399.....

i personnally recommend the super recycler, i own both matter of fact. the problem w/the regualar reycler is that the mower always tends to bog down quicker in wet or tall grass (both of my mowers have equal motors & same manufactures). also the deck on the regular recycler mower is steel while the super 1 is aluminum... the super is more heavier due to this fact... IMO the grass cathcher bag is larger on the super reycler also...

now if you plan to make the 21'' mower your main mower to bring in the cash flow i'de go ahead and get a torro commercial mower other known as 21'' torro proslide, sells for $1,050....

I took GrassMaster's advice and bought a Honda HRC216. The commercial Honda with hydro trans is simply excellent.
I understand that if you use one enough you may even end up looking like GrassMaster himself!

I'm using a 2005 honda HCR 216 and its sweet. Bags like a dream... Mulches like a dream... I not dreaming. This thing is quality. No problems as of yet and I've put a lot of hours on this baby already... my .02 says go with a Honda... but I've never used a toro and the toro is a lot cheaper than the Honda. I was in basically the same situation I think your probably in a few months ago...

I got Toro commercial with Kaw engine. I used to work with honda and cannot say anything bad about it. But Toro 21" is excellent. I wouln't go back to honda now. Toro is a good choice and it will pay for the investment.

Just saw this mower at my dealer today thing is built like a tank with a crankshaft reinforcement and a 6.5hp Kawasaki motor it's made bye Eastman Industries incredibly light weight but well constructed and very simply constructed so not much to go wrong.
