  • What's on the end of your string trimmer?

I have a new Stihl string trimmer and am very pleased with it so far. The bump feed spool seems easy enough to load but I'm wondering about using a head that uses the individual string inserts. Any suggestions or recommendations?

    Thanks,

I put one on my sister's Homelite. 4 slots for the individual inserts. It is a pain!! Unless your doing extremely light duty trimming it goes very quick. Have no experience with one on a stihl but doubt it would be much better.

i do this partime this year just on saturdays and bought two extra spools that are loaded and ready to go just to save that extra time loading the spool. if i had this insert deal i would spend all day loading the line. case closed......... i have an echo for what it is worth. good luck!!

          A worker.

Bump heads are the only way to go. .095 round Shindaiwa or Oregon string is my choice.

Stay with the bump. I have one and I'm sick of seeing the gal that works for me stoped and inserting the new line. I don't mind seeing her bent over but when thier not working thier not making me any money. Bump it!

I have the shindaiwa Pro head with the manual line advance. I haven't had to refill my spool all season. Be careful take your time trimming and you won't eat through your line.

You know, I have the individual insert head where I have to stop and load the strings individually. I like it better. Only because I can stand using the spool. Maybe it's fat fingers but I cannot keep the spool from unraveling when I'm trying to load it into the head.

For me the individual strings has worked very well, they last a considerable amount and I don't find myself stopping very much to load.
