Is the redmax 8000 the best backpack blower? I am considering buying one and would like some opinions on it.

    Air Volume: 943 cfm
    Air Speed: 203 mph

    YES!

If you are planning on using it for blowing clippings from mowing you may just want to go with the 7000 (20 lbs).

If you plan on using blower a lot for clean-ups (i.e. leaf blowing) then go with the 8000...."down side" to 8000 is that it is 25 lbs

The way I look at it.....it is better to have "too much" power than not enough!

Has anyone tried the Stihl BR600?

I plan to go down to my dealer and try them both side by side on a pile of wet leaves.
The Red Max costs $487 and the Stihl is $422. Both these units are relatively new.
I am glad I read these posts so now I can have a good unit to compare against the Stihl.
      Thanks!

I have seen posts from another lawn site that they have problems with the Redmax 8000. I never buy a new model of anything the first year since it always seems to have problems.

If you try the Stihl and Redmax....I guarantee you will buy the Redmax. Go with the 7000.....based on the comments about the issues the new 800 has had. I have a 7000 myself ad love it.

              Redmax? Oh, please.

The REDMAX 8000 weighs 25 pounds. That's an extra 5 pounds, all day. Maruyama invented the backpack blower in the 1950's - - they're a little harder to find, but a Rolex is harder to find than a Timex. The Maruyama BL690 has the same performance, a TWO-YEAR commercial warranty, LIFETIME on the ignition, and costs less. It makes a Stihl, Echo, or REdmax look like they were made by Fisher-Price for my 6-year-old son. ( and weighs just over 20 pounds )

I've used every brand of equipment for 25+ years, NOTHING comes even close to the Maruyama stuff - - - when you see someone using Maruyama, you can bet they are a true professional that has a lot of experience.

PS - If it's sold at Home Depot, or Lowes, figure it out - - it's for your Aunt Martha - - not a seious tool to depend on for your income. ~ TMB

                Redmax? Oh, please.

PS - There were 2004 model units of the Maruyama BL690 ( BL6700HA ) on sale at www.TheLawnmowerShop.com for $319.95 ( $200 Savings ) last week, you may want to check and see if there are any still at that price. ~ TYB

Red max 8000 vs Stihl 600

I compared the two units .
The Red Max is just too heavy. My guys are tough, but this thing is a monster.
The Stihl 600 is so new I have no input on this unit at all. It is much easier to wear then the 8000.
Both units are obviously very well designed, and probably would not go wrong with either.
The Stihl is about $425 and the 8000 about $475.
                  Any input would be nice.
                  Thanks!

I don't have a backpack blower yet but I'll probably get one this fall for the leaves. I was looking at the Echo PB650 the other day.

If you want to keep up with me you should have gotten that backpack blower already. Nice originality on the user name.
