  • What do you think of Cub Cadet?

I saw a pretty inexpensive Commercial Cub Cadet Straight Shaft Trimmer (25cc, 17" Cut, EZ-Link, $169) and was wondering what you guys thought of it? I'm very new to the business and am looking for cheap equipment until I can afford Echo equipment and such. Right now I'm using my dad's Poulan Pro trimmer with the link system. He also has a blower attachment which I use.
I was also looking at a Husquarna Backpack Gas Blower (30cc, 180 MPH, $159). Thanks in advance!

I'm sorry, I meant to say the blower was a Homelite Backpacker II Gas Blower not a Husqvarna.

I have never owned a line trimmer made by cub cadet, but I do own one of their mowers. No problems with it at all. I would give that Cub Cadet trimmer a try for that price. Cub Cadet is commerical grade equipment and far superior than the trimmer you are using now.

I would stay away from a Homelite. Get commerical grade equipment, in the long run, it will save you time and money. Yeah, it cost a little more up front, but is less likely to brake down. I have two Husqvarna backpack blowers and have never had a problem with them.

I have a new Cub Cadet curved shaft ez link and love it. I have used Poulin Pro straightt shaft and I like my Cub Cadet better. Larger fuel tank and I load the head less often too. I think my next one will be a Cub Cadet straight shaft without the ez link.

I have 4 ST26 straight shaft trimmers, commercial grade. The engines are made by Shibaura, in Europe I believe.
