  • what to fix/tighten on a new redmax 8000???

I might be getting a redmax 8000 and heard there were some issues with the carbeurator, and also screws falling out. What needs to be done to a new redmax 8000 to fix it and get it up to par?

            just answer the f***n question!!
if you know there is a problem wouldnt you want to fix it to avoid the problem it in the future

besides, you cant tell me that there is a perfect blower out there that never has any problems.

if the answer is no, then you missed the point!!!

              21`er, their just being honest....

Brand new units "out of the box" needing fixing, and being brought up to par?????

JUST A THOUGHT: Modifieing a new unit, "whatsoever" usually voids the warrenty!!!!

If i was forced on buying a machine at gunpoint, that was known to have consistant issues with carburetor problems, and screws just falling out , i would want the option or ability to take such a unit back around the corner and exchange it for a relacement unit ...

I`m not familiar with this particular unit but it sounds like somthing that has NOT had the bugs worked out of production models correctly ,and is being unleashed on a unsuspecting customer...

This is a common problem when anything new is released ,and sometimes it`s better to wait a year or 2 ,for the needed bugs to be worked out...

If it has plastic parts like chokes that snap off eventually i would hope the plastic would be relaced with some more durable component material...

If screws just loosen up and fall out there is probably some design flaw ,that causes abnormal harmonic vibration leading to more serious problems...

Sounds a little scary to me but if you "have to have" this unit, despite it haveing known problems, remove all screws pre fire-up, install lock- tite to the threads ,and pray the machine does not fall apart...

This would probably voide the warrenty though (as mentioned above) ,so it`s back to square one ,and deslagh ,and dg0123 were giveing the proper advice...

Avoid the unit untill these problems are solved...

I have many 10 yr old homelith BX 30 gas blowers, throwaway units never desighned for commercial use... These were used commercially for years blowing off debris on roofs and used commercially in a roofing bussiness..

I had about 20 of these cheapies ,because the laxy workers would toss them off the roof-tops, and let them roll off trucks...Thats life so they didnt get $500 units to destroy....

Despite it being a cheap throw away units at least they never had a rep of linkage breaking or screws falling out....

Perhaps someone knows about a new update that adresses the problem you yourself described but if nobody weighs in with a possitive fix that is available they were just trying to be helpfull from what i read.....

              GOOD LUCK, TRANS............

                  Here Dude!

Don't let these guys get you worked up so easy.

Here's a cut and paste from a post I made last week.

Make sure every nut and bolt is tight. Specifically the bolt that attaches the engine to the frame. It's the star head screw that is right in the top middle of the back pad. I have three 8000s and that screw has fell out of all of them until I went through last winter and put thread lock on everything.

If you can remove any screws or nuts that should never have to come loose I'd go ahead and put thread lock on everything the next time you have some down time.

Also, if it suddenly runs erradically then more than likely the choke screw is loose and the choke is bouncing open and close. Just make sure to tighten it every time you take the air intake hose of the carb.

They're awesome machines and I'd buy another without hesitation, but they do have these couple of quirks.

I sure as hell wouldn't buy new equipment that I already knew needed to be worked on.
