As the title states, the buss is growing like crasy and i have made the jump to the commercial world. Have a couple of large acreage contracts under my belt that i have been cutting with my 2 exmark 36 walks. Been in buss for 6 months only but seems better every day. Any way, I been keeping my mouth shot and been learning a lot from all of you so is time for me to speak up. I done my homework and found that the most affordable commercial mower around my area is the dixon. Which i plan to ge at least one 50' to do the commercial mowing (i'm killing my 36's and i need them for my residentials). Any input at all about this ztr's will help. i'm in doubt because i can get them for at least $1000 less than the competition. It has the same kawasaki or cohler engine as any other good unit. I am suspicious about it.

I would skip the Dixon mower. You would likely be better off buying a used Scag/Exmark/Toro than a new Dixon if cost was the issue for you.a.k.a.---> Erich

I would only purchase a Dixon if some home owner was getting rid of it @ an extremely affordable $$$. They are everywhere here used. Never seen a Dixon on any LCO's trailer. We have had Dixon dealer forever and you still never see them anywhere but home owner's lawns.
I have been considering 1 of Dixon's lil' 30" ZTRs for fenced yards. If I could find 1 w/hydros and really cheap. This is their only appeal to me. Until then I will use the 28" Snapper and double my mow time from turning the dang thing.

thanks for the input, and by the way, they do have a commercial line. I just never seen one in action. That's why i was in doubt. Well, according to the specs and ads, they have a commerecial 44, 50, and 60. but it sounds to good to be true for $1000 less, or even more. i think ill go for the gravely which is the next in price. and yes, price is important to me.

Just because someone calls their line commercial doesn't mean it is commercial compared to other companies commercial. There are different hydro units, different thickness of metal for the decks,etc.

John Deere is probably the worse offender. Because they call their products "Professional" or Commercial" has only one meaning; Raise prices! No attachment to quality what so ever!
My advice to any new business owner who uses this kind of equipment or some other stuff, would be; (1) Never forget who the customer is-relationships are worth more then money (2) Do not let enthusiasm get in the way of common sense-and I am a big offender of this rule (3) Watch your cash flow (Make sure you have enough money coming in every week to pay your bills) (4) Profitability. Profit and cash flow are always #3 and #4 after the initial money bag runs dry. Profitability becomes very big very fast-especially on large jobs. It takes experience to take on those big ones. If you do not know what you are doing you can loose your cookies real fast.
I also say, for what it’s worth, I have never been burned by Kubota or Stihl…
