I am looking at a gravely 148z. It has only been used for 1 residential yard for 2 years. It has 156 hours, and the price is $3,000 . I have 1.4 acres that I mow with a immitation J.D. (Sabre). Is this a good deal or not. Thanks

Yes, I think that is a good deal, but I would put out this one piece of advice. When buying a used mower the same three criteria should be considered as when buying a used car. These criteria are CONDITION, Condition and condition!
Make sure everything is in good shape and works properly. Ask the owner if it uses any oil and how often the oil has been changed. Look him in the eye when you ask this and try to tell if he is being straight up with you.
If the mower is in good condition, I think that is a heck of a deal. A decent residential ZTR can't be had for less than $4,000 and would be absolutely NOTHING compared to a Kawasaki powered Gravely IMHO.
Good luck,
Doc

The unit is in brand new condition. It is stored in a closed garage/barn. He takes very good care of everything he owns. He is moving and doesn't need the mower anymore. I think I am going to go for it, it has to be better than the sabre I mow with now. I have turned my attention to the ZTR's because I have a lot of friends that are in the lawn business and have used there J.D. 717's and 757's. I hope it performs as well as they do.

It's probably worth almost twice as much as he's selling it. Why couldn't this guy live next door to me??? If I had the money right now I'd be trying to get the guy's address from you.
