  • Bunton or Scag

    Hi:

I'm thinking about buying 1 of these ZTR. I'm looking at a 52" Bunton with 19HP Kawa, hydro deck lift, headlight and a tow hitch for $6000. The dealer says it's a very good price and a very good unit. However, I have not seen many of them around here at all(Columbus, OH).

The other one I'm looking at is the SCAG Tiger cub, 48", no options, for $5700. I have seen more of these around here.

I like the bunton, with the auto deck lift, but I wonder which 1 has better built quality, easier to maintin and better realibility. I have not heard much about Bunton at all.

I will only use it for home use, with about 1.7 Acer to mow.

    Thanks in advance.

I bought a Scag Turf Tiger this summer and its a great Machine. My dealer is great, but...

...Scag SUCKS at part delivery thru the distributors. The average wait time on all parts delivery is 2 to 3 weeks and that SUCKS BIG TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mailed back my "customer satisfaction" form they send out to new owners and I complained about their crappy service of commercial guys like us. They sent me a very nice hat with raised silver letters spelling SCAG.

I e-mailed them again with my complaint about their crappy service compared to Exmarks promise of free parts if the shipment isn't within a couple days of the order. Neither my dealer or myself has ever recieved free parts from Exmark!!

I will continue to e-mail them when I order parts and it takes longer than a couple of days. I'm always willing to pay for 2nd day air, but it seems SCAG could care less.

If any SCAG employees read this, take note. I'm hearing from other SCAG owners who are not putting their mower fleets back into SCAG because of the crappy parts delivery.

Next time it will be a HUSTLER.

Good morning; I have more to add to my last post re Scag.

I love the turf tiger. Its durable and makes a very fine cut.

We all discuss "dealer support" and if its not there, then the great machine isn't worth anything.

But in my case, the dealer isn't the problem; its the distributor and Scag itself. A counter part in my area runs an aging Scag and he loves the machine, but he has had trouble getting parts. He blames the dealer who is the same guy I deal with; but I have never had a problem with the same guy. My counterpart is putting his fleet into Exmark.

His telling comment was "They [scag] talk a good game on their website, but they can't deliver".

With these comments being read by thousands of commercial LCO and contractors, and homeowners who are potential buyers, I would hope that Scag will change their servicing practices.

My dealer let the distributor know that I wanted 2nd day air, but obviously it doesn't do any good. Scag must be another name for Sears, who used to not have a central distrution center years ago.
