  • RedMax 7001 Operating Question

I’ve owned my Redmax 7001 blower for approximately two years and really enjoy using this fine machine.

Recently a relative (works in the lawn care business) was visiting and mentioned to my wife that I was improperly operating the RedMax 7001? He went on to tell her that he had ‘Burned up’ two 7001 units in the past due to NOT operating them at full or near full throttle! He went on to say that they have a design flaw that exhibits poor lubrication unless one operates the blower in this manor!

I have great reserve about this comment until I hear from the tried and proven professionals who participate on the board. Generally I operate the throttle all over the spectrum and at time do operate at or near full throttle but not generally or I would make a royal mess of the landscape.
So I welcome any and all input: Is he full of it or not?

Thanks for your time to respond.

First off, I don"t use the redmax 7001. I do use the echo 650 & 750 models, they primarily do get used at full bore as much as possible. Not to say at times they do not, running them at full throttle eliminates carbon buildup, a lot of running at low throttle leads me to believe it would not be good for them. Perhaps some of the guys that use redmax will chime in here.

A comon myth is that a 2 cycle engine isn't lubricated at idle. Pure bull. If it is getting fuel to the cylinder, it is getting oil into the crankcase.

The EB7001 has NO SUCH DESIGN FLAW. Your relative very well may, though.

Ask your relative this simple question. Since an EB7001 relies on getting its lubrication from a mix with the gasoline, and the fuel/air mix MUST pass through the crankcase on its way into the cylinder, how is it that the oil just "magically" doesn't seem to get there?

No offense, but tell your relative he is plain stupid, and that he NEEDS to mix oil in with the gas. The only way he burned up a few EB7001's is because he forgot to mix oil in with the gas.

Another urban legend believed by the feeble minded.

          I agree Woody

Yea I'm going to agree with woody if the 7001 is running its is getting some kind of lubricant becuase it simply has too. I just recently bought a 7001 and absolutly love it. The only thing I don't like is with mine it doesn't mater if I run it for a hour full bore and then cut it off it will not crank unless I choke it. But I've had them all Stihl, Echo, Kawa, to me the Redmax is da bomb lol.
