Both brands are extremely nice, and probably the best on the market as far as i'm concerned. Depending on the terrain you will be mowing, one might preform slightly better than the other.
If you are primarily mowing flat, wide open areas, Dixie might be a better choice simply because they are a little faster and lighter/easier on turf. If you will be mowing on slopes some and more un-even terrain, then Grasshopper would be a better choice because their decks seem to follow the ground very nicely and they have a little added weight to help you hold the slopes better.
Both are very nice machines! We do the impossible, because it limits the competition

Lawnshark, is the dealer support equal on both brands. A friend of mine used to complain about how high price parts were for his GrassHopper. Thats all just speculation. I would think they would be comparable to others.
Theres a guy that mows in my neighborhood that has a dixie. I flat moves. Seems to cut nice as well.Mike®

Dealer support is greater for grasshopper. Plus, grass hopper has a better finance deal rightnow. No payments for 6 months 2% financing for 50 month "wich I qualified'. However, Im not a fan of grasshoppers product. I was looking at one of there front cutting models. I am buying this mower for a parks an rec account for next spring. Most of the mowing is 8 acres and is a soccer feild.
