• Need a little advise

I'm fixing to retire from my present job and start a lawnservice with my two newphews. We haven't figured out which commerical rider to get. The two boys have worked at the area golf course the last two summers and mow yards when they get off. They work hard, take care of my equipment (lawn tractors, bushhoging and I let them on my little bulldoizer sometimes) I vote for a Toro with a Kawaski, one wants a EXMARK the other a Kubota. So I decided to ask the Pros. Any help will be appreciated. I proud of these boys, they make good grades, play sports and music and want to pay their own way to college

eXmark makes the Toro, except for the deck.

      Rebel 60,

Sounds like you should be proud of those nephews. Sounds like they are well rounded and their heads are squarely on their shoulders.

Exmark gets good press in these type of forums. Your happiness with a commercial mower will depend quite a bit on dealer support and service. Exmark and Toro both have excellent dealers near me (10 miles and 3 miles, respectively). (Toro dealer also sells John Deere and Yazoo/Kees). Scag dealer is a bit farther, 15+ miles. Dixie Chopper dealer is quite far away, 30-40 miles. Given my biases, this would suggest to me that I would go with the exmark. Take a good look at your dealer proximity and their reputation for service.

EXMARK! All my mowers are exmark, and other friends I have in the business have exmark also. The reason I bought exmark is due to the quality of the mower and if needed the service the dealer could provide me. I'm very happy with exmark.

Kubota zd21 is my choice, handles grades better and will last longer but will cost around $10,000.00

If it's just the three of you ... and if your market is good, take a look at landscape installs, pond building, some of the construction aspects of the bizz.

Thanks for the help guys. I have a Exmark dealer close by and I think I will go with the Kawasaki motor. I would like to expand to pond building and heavy landscaping next spring, maybe add a bobcat and a small dumptruck. But I guess I just take things a step at a time, anyway thanks guys for the info
