I was looking to get a new stick edger. I am looking at the echo 261 and 311. Is there a big difference as far as durability and quality between the two.

Enginge size is the main difference. The 311 is a lot larger. If you have hard soil and will be using it a lot, i would go with the larger one.Comment

I am also in Florida, with the sand that we floridians usually edge through I find the PE 260 / PE261 to work excellent. Even edging severely overgrown areas I can run through it with one arm. There is about a 4 pound difference between the 261 and 311, and while that doesnt sound like much after a few hours it will fill like a lot more. This makes the 261 faster and easier to use, especially by someone like me ( a size 6 female) -- But dont let my size fool you, I throw a commercial blower on my back just like every other person on this site, and I can run circles around our new employees with any edger.
As far as durability and quality:
Props going with echo you wont be dissapointed... unless you buy one from home depot, they do not have half the torgue of the pe-261Comment
