forget the striping kit. it stripes fine without it. buy the mulch kit instead. i have the 48" and it works great. as far as i am concerned it is money well spent. plus the controls are very easy and don't strain your hands. 2 years now and no problems other than normal maint.

Does anyone use Ferris mowers. I don't know much about them for I have never used them. It is a mower line that I never read about on this forum.

spm 73, thanks for your advice! what you said about not buy somone else's problems when you buy used just confirms what a guy who works on them for a living has been trying to tell me.

Also my spending range depends on how much i make this winter on snow removal ( if it ever snows!! lol ) If any thing i hope to get the 36" $ 2700 metro then maybe the next year get the 48" $$4600 Turf Tracer. Then i would have a big mower and a somwhat smaller mower.

And lastly im not sure how to tell you what kind of grass i mow jus normal grass i supose, and the terrain: some is hilly some are just flat open pieces of grass. I just hope the walkbehind is good on hills. Has any one had experience with the Metro or Turf Tracer on hills?????

We use a John Deere 318 with a 50" deck and a Honda commercial 22" WB.

A little different but it works fine for us.

I used one of them years ago. I still got a 316 with 50'' deck, hardly ever use mowing deck though. Usually use the 42'' hydraulic tiller & 49'' snowblower. Walkbehinds are much faster & easier to use.

I have found the 318 with the Onan engine is very fast. This is more powerful then the 316.

Combined with the WB Honda and this system is very fast.

My opinion on Walk-behind versus a Rider

If they cant do much more than a rider than why not ride?
I personally dont like riders, the big wide zero turns might be ok but regular riders are not good on a rather steep incline. I guess for some people its just a personal preference on what you like or what kind of lawns you mow.

The thing about walk behinds is, that they ride low to provide a hard to tip mower that are great on hills and all around. I might get a 36" walk behind for the smaller lawns, so a rider of the same class wouldnt be good on hills at all let alone wide enough to help prevent tipping.

This is just my opion to the question you asked. As Im still learning in this Business I Welcome your coments on my opinion lol :p .
