  • Is this a good price for Exmark?

This is my first post but have been reading alot on this site. I would like to get some opinions on an Exmark that I priced yesterday. Where I live Exmarks are not very common. We see mostly Toros, Bobcats and a few JDs.

Its a 2005 Turf Tracer HP, 48" deck, 17 hp Kaw. with recoil start. $4500.
What do you think? Is this price in line?

I have a Toro Proline 44 belt drive with 15 hp Kohler and T-Bar controls. Also mulching kit and Jungle Wheels velke. I estimate this mower has 75 or fewer hours on it. Going to sell it and buy a hydro but want to get as much info. as I can before spending the money. I appreciate your comments.

Is the exmark new? Does it have the ECS controls? If it is, thats sounds about normal to me. Exmark is about all you see in the market around here. You might be able to get one for a little cheaper in a more competitive market.

Sorry I was not clear. Yes it is brand new with ECS. Only HP 48 they had. Dealer admitted that they do not sell very many walk behind mowers but property was full of ZTs.

i paid $4900 for an electric start 2004 model which was the best deal around here at the time. it sounds like a good deal although i would check and see how much more for the 19 hp. the 17 hp is fine though. are you sure it is a 2005 model ?

Just spoke with dealer and they say it is a 2005. However, I suspect that the only sure way to know is run serial number. As for 19 hp they don't have any in stock. They did say that the o6 models will be around $300 higher than the 05s. That electric start would be nice! I think you can get the 17 with electric start but again I'm not positive.

You can buy a 52" Toro Classic Dual Hydro T-Bar for that price. Don't let the availability of just a 15hp Kohler single to be an issue. I have a 1997 14hp hydro with over 2200 hours and it's surprisingly powerful and wickedly fast.

Keep the 44" belt for a backup.
I'm not sure what you are saying but I don't need to keep the Toro for backup. I have a 52" Bobcat ZTR and a John Deere 48". I don't particularly like the T-Bar controls on Toros and there are features on the Exmark that I like over Toro. Such as ECS and the hydro. pump release for cranking when cold. Also, I don't want to go larger than 48" on a wb. If Exmark had a floating deck with 44" I would prefer that. I believe a 44" is available but its a fixed deck. I know Toro does offer 44" floating. Most of the properties I mow are not huge open spaces with a few exceptions. Also, the weight of the Bobcat (over 1300 lbs without Peco) does damage, and in some cases kill new fescue and turf type grasses. I want to get away from using the Bobcat
so much and start using a wb more to avoid most of the turf damage.

$4500. Is a good deal but the final word is yours. I have a tthp 48" with a 19hp pullstart velke x2 and mulch kit and it was almost 6000. I just wish it was elec. start by the end of the day your arm is pumped.

Thanks Steve...I was also thinking that this price was pretty good! Like I mentioned in previous post, they only have this one wb on the property and I believe he just wants to get rid of it. Think I will offer $4500 for mower and mulch kit + tax. Can't hurt. But, would like to sell the Toro first before making offer. Thanks again.

i can tell you right now you ain't getting the mulch kit with the mower for that price. if you do let me know cause i will drive down to buy my stuff. if you get the mulch kit make sure you get the right blades with it. if you go to the exmark site you can get a quick reference for parts or either look in your manual that comes with the mower. when i got my kit they had the wrong blades in it.
