Please clear my fog. If you know, please answer.

Single drive hydros have been around for over a decade.
The Snapper is a rebadged Ferris. Jack D. uses Dual Drive 32" units exclusively.

You can get them from all three brands, but the Simplicity model has a Briggs engine, and is geared toward HO use. I have been looking at them for awhile just because they only weigh about 400 lbs. They don't list a sulky as an available accesory is the main reason I'm still considering a Gravely 34" belt (If I ever get another WB that is). I'm sure a Sulky could be mounted to one of the 32s though... I know the Kaw 13HP can handle it.

What's the thumb control steering they talk about on that machine? Are there steering brakes?

Yes... It steers with brakes like a belt drive would.
