  • Echo 260 Trimmer

Has anybody had any time with this trimmer? I had a T-230 until somebody stole it and now I bought this one b/c of the larger engine. I am curious to hear from anyone of you guys about how well it performs. I have not had a chance to run it yet with all of our rain here so any help is appreciated.

I have had mine for two weeks now, it runs rough at startup, i think the fuel mixture needs to be adjusted, i am taking it in tuesday to have it fixed, other than that it works great.

Hey Bubba thanks for replying. This rough feeling you speak of may be due to the fact it is not broken in. The manual says it takes 3-5 tanks of gas at half-throttle to break it in and get the seals settled. Once you get through this break-in period, it will run much much more powerfully. Give it some time and see. Try not to run it full throttle for very long.

I have the PAS260 .It has allways starts right up, but takes a while to warm up to use it.I have read the manual as well .My 260 has the time on it,and I am still waiting for it to to start up and be ready for use. Sometimes I play with the choke to try and get it up to speed quicker. It works sometimes , but mostly I think about what brand I am going to buy as I wait for it to warm up .Once it gets going it has plenty of power , and starts up and performs well if I have to shut it off for a few minutes then use it again .But it cools down quickly, and I have to go through the process of warmming it up again after ten minutes or so of no use. I am going to get another trimmer to use as the main one , and use the 260 for the attatchments and a back up . I have other Echo equipment, and it doesnt have that problem at all .They start right up and are ready for use .Hope yours improve with age , mine has not .Good luck.

Wish in one hand ,and sh*t in the other . See which one gets filled first

I have finally gotten to run it lately. I agree it takes a little while to warm-up. I loof forward to seeing how it starts once I have broken it in. The power is noticeably better than the 230. I mean this thing really hums. Mine starts pretty easily but takes about 30 seconds to get to where I can throttle it fully.

            Chester:

It is normal for the newer low emissions units to take longer to warm up than what you may be used to, but it sounds like you have a carb problem. The 260 uses a real good carb and you shouldn't be having those kinds of problems. Echo usually approves new carbs for warranty rather than rebuilds, so get it into your dealer.

But at least I'm enjoying the ride.

I TOOK MINE IN FOR SERVICE FRIDAY, THE "TWO CYCLE" MAN PLAYED WITH IT FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND GAVE IT BACK. IT NO LONGER HAS THE WARM-UP PROPLEM AND IS READY FOR ACTION WITHIN A COUPLE OF SECONDS AFTER STARTUP.

Well I'm happy for you because I love mine. I don't think you could beat it for the price.

I put my 8-tooth blade on today to clear a lot for a friend. That thing sliced everything in there and some of the stems of the wild plants were about 2 inches in diameter. I love this trimmer. It will do the job just about anywhere you need it.
