Can someone explain the pros and cons between liquid and air cooled for these units?

Maintenance differences?
Longevity?
Reliability?

Liquid cooled vs air cooled

The liquid cooled engines are supposed to stay at a constant temp and run cooler than the air cooled engines.Most have efi set ups and supposedly use less fuel. The liquid cooled engines also are supposed to last longer usually double the length of the air cooled because of the lower operating temps. The drawbacks of the L/C engines is they are usually more expensive to repair and initially purchase.

The A/C engines are more prone to overheating and breaking down oil quicker. I have not seen one overheat yet but then again I dont mow in the desert. The A/C engines usually use more fuel than the L/C engines with the EFI and dont usually have the torque that L/c engines have. Also the A/C engines are usually easiser to repair have less parts and lower initial costs. Most people say they get anywhere from 1500- 3500 hrs service on a A/C engine and 3500-6000 Hrs on a L/C engine depending on the installation. Most LCO's use the A/C engines unless they are wanting to keep the mower for a long time or really have the need for the L/C's longevity in warmer climates. hope this helps.
