I've logged many hours on all sorts of different equipment. Not to turn this into an arguement but, if you recall the original question in the posting, it inquired as to weather he should purchase an echo or a Redmax. You've dont have knowledge of both products so you have no platform with which to base your opinion. You like what you own and thats wonderful. However, as you stated, you only have experience with a single line so there isnt much basis for you to post in a thread looking for a good comparison of a product. If you're going to post a reply to someones question, make sure it is truly meant for the benefit of the thread starter and not just your agenda.
i gave the best answer that i could give to the thread starter and yea, you are correct, i know nothing about redmax, but i have had good experiences with echo. being in a dealership don't mean squat to me cause as i said b/4, you are gonna spin whatever product you sell. as far as posting in a thread like this, i'll post whatever and whenever i like period. i respond to all post with my experiences pertaining to the subject at hand. if it helps somebody, good, if it don't, then oh well, at least i responded. when i first started on here it was the same. comparisons are nice, but opinions on what somebody uses is better as far as i'm concerned. does that mean the guy has to go by echo? no, but at least he has somebody telling him that they are ok for someone who does this for a living. he has to make his decision.

Its so interesting how touchy you guys get about your equipment brands. Read back through my post. I have said that Echo makes a fine product. Its a little redundant for everyone to keep repeating it. This guy wants a comparison between Redmax and Echo. If you cant do that for him then stop posting. This isnt the "Echo Fanclub". Its a place where guys can get legit answers to questions. (and where did husky come from? he didnt ask about those) I asked about a ferris mower in another post and before it was over, it was a whole thread about honda commercial engines. Offered me no help at all with my original question. Furthermore, why didnt anyone jump on Elephantnest for the "Echo sux" comment?

i would bet that ole elephantnest probably had a bad deal at some point with echo. now back to you. i wonder what your real motives are about echo. i've been to jax 4 times this summer and will be there next weekend again. i know the city pretty good as my dad has lived there since 1972. you have a shop on lane ave., i believe you said in another post. it looks like you have echo dealers everywhere around you. hell you got 2 on cassat ave. within 3 miles of you and another 5 within 10 miles over to orange park. i think there is another on st.johns as well. looks like you are just a small fish in a big pond. don't forget about the homeowners editions at home cheapo.

I have no "real motive". Do you really think that I'm hoping this guy comes down from Wisconsin to buy a trimmer from me? Dont be that guy. (and of those three dealers, they all carry a commercial line besides Echo. wonder why)

Buy what you can get fixed. I, like Delasgh have never seen Redmax sold, advertised, or used in my area. The first and only times I've ever heard of Redmax is on here. Buy what you can get fixed. Any dealer can fix a Redmax...but if he don't deal with Redmax it might take him awhile to get parts. Years ago I started my business with damn Craftsman trimmer...now that I won't recommend.
              Put me out of service.

                  best

get the best brand that you can get parts for locally, you could buy anything but if it takes a week to get a air filter then you are going to get annoyed, both brands are good if you maintain it,anything can be broken and there are some big differences between all the major brands even with the little things like an air filter, some people like to be able to clean the filter and re use it or have one that last long, some offer these luxury and some don't,if you are shopping at a dealer they will demo stuff usually if you ask witch can help,I personally went from echo to stihl and I am also about to pick up some shindiawa stuff

I work for a dealership and honestly it just depends on how you take care of it. Either brand could last several years or a few days. Its up to the owner which one it is.

                      LOL Steve 8)

I used to run a guy's crew with all Echos, years ago. He had about 11 trimmers so that we could usually have at least 5 that ran. But, it was years ago, and the peons didn't care about taking care of em, they would drop em, etc. Just not my first choice. lol

I honestly have a Shindaiwa that is going on 13 or so years old. Always used commercially. Starts on the 2nd or 3rd pull, and runs better than day one. But, I also have a Homelite ( can't seem to get rid of it, sentimental reasons I guess) that is probably 15-20 years old. Still runs. lol

I shouldn't have said Echo sux, I just personally prefer other brands, but to each his own, and dealer support is, of course, almost invaluable.
