    Now will this cheat?????

Seeing if this will show a pic where it shouldnt because no picts in commercial discussions for some reason.....

Anyone know why GM has the picture feature locked here and i think only here????????

BTW thats a single axle right??????

You better beef that whole thing up while your buddy is there with the welder.......

It looks like it twists a lot which pressure treated lumber anchored down will help a lot but you should beef that bad boy!!!!!!!

I am getting some things in order so taht I can purchase the better 44" with 16 kawa motor.

That is goign to be teh primary mower then the backup is goign to be the Troybilt 33 that I have now and has served me well but definetly not a commercial mower and belt driven at that.

Yeah, the current gate hinges are quarter tubing with a bolt threw it. I think that it was just thrown together maybe.

better hinges with pin design would allow it to get closer tot he deck and I can weld up something with a pin lock like you have.

          Rusty don't matter....just a little more work...

I regret not having any before pictures of this old Bobcat mower when I purchased it used. A pure rust bucket. Probably sat outside for 15 years. But l@@k how it turned out.

I'd think the Quick 44 should roll fine on your existing ramp. IMO, I'd say leave it be for now. When the time comes and you find out the ramp ain't long enough, THEN add length to it.

Nah, the more you work, the more muscle you build. I personally think the damn things get lighter as the day goes on. Morning is worse.

Spoiled's ramp appears to be light weight already anyhow....

Hinges: they sell them at steel yrds and wlding supply shops, not expensive at all. If you go the bolt route use hardened steel one>>> for obvious reasons!!

That is what I on there now is the bolt through. I had to replace them for they were rusted solid.

Like I said, I bought the trailer at a decent price when I needed it.

I hav a small Truck pulling it so it sits low to the ground as well. I think that the trailer is longer than the truck actually!

Thanks for the help and advice guys, this is why I frequent here!

If they carry stainless steel bolts because that's all i can use on my dock or anything within 10 feet of it and the salty air......

After a week regular bolts will blow off in the wind.....

Can you get a better photo of the hinges??

I can't tell very well, but I'm willing to bet that those on your trailer are homemade and need to go....

And I need to go....do some work....make some money. I'll be in later tonight?

I will get some shortly. I am going to take the gate off and do a quick run off with a wire brush and some Rustoleum rust primer then flat black and see how it looks.

What type boards did you use?

4, 6 or larger decking boards?

I called and they had 4" x 12ft for 5 a board. I would need alot of them for a 6 ft wide trailer.

Did you also put down rain sealer or water sealer on it?

I think that I defintely goign to change it to wood floor for it looks nicer and will hold up better than the mesh. Need to get a chisel adn hammer out to get the welds off!

Thanks again MM and everyone else!

I think my trailer uses 2 X 8 pressure treated planks that are about 16 feet long.....

I drive cars on mine which is much heavier then mowers and never had 1 rot or crack ......

The thickness is more important to me then the actual width so i think you can work with that but the most important thing in my opinion is you stay with PRESSURE TREATED LUMBER

If your gonna dump it then use whatever but it will still be worth more with pressure treated.....

And iv had many a trailer used to haul all kind of crap borrowed by friends and i never stained or coated it so i think that's a waste of money that you needn't spend......

I still havent got a good look at the trailer so you have to make the decision how much this thing is actually worth sinking into $$$$ wise because you can still find a decent used 1 or even new one for a decent price if you look around but i think your heart is set on this kinda like a winter project....

Just dont spend more then its worth because it is a single axle trailer correct and i know around me i can get a new decent aluminum one that will carry 2 good sized mowers for about $650 and that's aluminum with ramp , and light kit ready to work.....

For highway i love the security of tandem so just in case a tire goes i can limp to the next exit and get another tire......

The small single axle i like for around town , there easy to hook and unhook plus you can move them around by hand......

Don't get carried away , and loose $$$ just use common sense.....

Ohhh this may sound stupid but why are you removing the underlieing mesh i think it would still add structural stability to the entire trailer?????

The mesh and welds still help tie the trailerr together so am i reading you right that your gonna remove somthing that was built into the trailer as support for the entire assembly????

Yes, I am using this as a winter project to get out of the house. I have a nagging wife and two kids!

No but you re right, I will be using pressure lumber and don't think that I need very thick maybe 1/2 is all. I will have a 400 lb mower x 2 a 21" mower and assorted tools.

Yes, i like the single axle the price I paid for it I could not beat, 350 bucks and I bought it two years ago when I was really Part time.

This year my daughter starts school and I need a new mower so I am going to bump up business to pay for the mower.

I estimate i need 10 more resi to pay for the mower this season to pull the same profit.

Right now I am only mowing in the evening and weekend due to my daughter home. She starts school in August which will help alot.

Thanks for the advice. I may just leave the wire floor for now and focus on the side rails/gate all purtied up.

Yeah, the expanded metal decking doesn't really appear to be in bad shape. Unless it's fugly, I'd just bolt the added timber decking right atop it, large washers being placed underneath the expanded metal --- no need to drill into the frame.

But I'll disagree with Twanny. The expanded metal cannot offer significant structural stability. I'm confident you'd be safe to remove it....as there is more than enough cross bracing on your trailer. In fact, that little trailer I fixed up was even more stable with the timber decking bolted to it (with the expanded metal removed) than with the original expanded metal decking.

No, I didn't treat the wood on the trailer. My intent was to sell it for money...I never thought once about it. I just replaced the decking on my 6x12' and I didn't treat that stuff either. If you're that worried about it, just paint it with the left over black rustoleam you have.
