  • Why WB's over ZTR's

It seems as if most people on here like walk behinds more than zero turns. I was just wondering why this is? I mean I understand that walk behinds fit into gates and things like that... but why else do you prefer a walk behind over a ztr?

cost is a factor but then ZTRs are quicker. Do you save it up-front when buying or as you go with quicker stop times?

I'd also have to say weight is another, Zs are heavy.

i prefer the walkbehinds for several reasons right now. cost being a huge one, but i also feel that with the type of yards i have i can manuever a 52" walkbehind better than a 52" ztr. i just dont' have a lot of yards that are wide open no trees, etc. yards. with all the yards i have now i have no problem with my 52" wb, but i can just see trying to manuever a ztr in there. plus since you can get velkies for walkbehinds your not actually walking and just standing isn't bad at all IMO. i'd actually hate to be sitting on a ztr all day.

I like hydro WBs....and I like ZTRs. Each have their place. But a happy medium is a stand-on ZTR --- bout just as quick as a sit-down ZTR, but nearly the size of a WB....cheaper than a large ZTR as well.

ztr stands for zero turn radius. either i'm having a brain fart or your saying hydro walkbehinds aren't zero turn and stand-on's are???

i know my hydro wb is zero turn.......can't speak for yours though. mine makes the same zero turn a stand-on does.

Some people refer to sit down ztr machines as a "ZTR"

a sit down machine is the only thing i refer to as a ZTR.

you have your ztr's which are riders, your walkbehinds, and your stand-on's. but all happen to have zero turn.

Well, you are incorrect in your assumption.

I much prefer a zero turn ride on mower (happy everyone?) I recently bought a 48" hydro walkbehind, and have had a little "fun" getting to know how to run it well, also about broke a leg 2 times...(using a single wheel velke) But it is certinaly a change of pace!

We bag pretty much all the time here, hence the reason very, very few people use W/B mowers. It's a LOT faster to bag with a Z mower catcher system than a goofy side catcher on a walkbehind.

Bad mix. Switch to a fixed unit/swivel wheel sulky and you'll be much happier.

Got most of the major parts for a BullRider sulky if you're interested. Platform/wheels/hitch....I think.... $30.

Also have a Proslide (which I just received new gas springs/ 2 sets of platform springs in the mail today). Wear plate in good condition, unit overall in good condition. Make an offer if you're interested........
