  • What Oil Mix

    What oil should I use.

I have both an Echo Edger/Trimmer and a Redmax Blower.

I want to get a gallon of oil versus the little bottles.

Which is good to use for all the machines?

    Thanks,

    T

    Well here we go........

It's pretty universal. Tranny has a research paper posted here not too long ago, (a couple of days ago on )what the oil does/is needed for. 40:1 is probably safe with a good quality product. Just go with the best your budget will allow.

Wasn't a research paper about oil or lubrication.....

Get the story correct when telling it.....

It was the Encarta Encyclopedia with 21 volumes of research advice from tranny on lube dynamics , silly theories , real world experience , and mix ratios......

Woulda been 24 volumes but then somebody important woulda lost sales so i dropped the last 3 volumes....

Stihl mix goes in all our 2 cyl stuff. Lawnboys to chainsaws to blowers, all different models and brands. Never had any issues what so ever. You can buy cases of the bottles that make 2.5 gallons each time. It's a decent price too.

I use Husky oil in all my stuff. I havent had any problems. Heck I even used some Klotz from my racing quad for a trimmer once. Smelled pretty awesome when you were trimming, but it smoked pretty good

And like i said you give me directions to the washed out bridge to nowhere , then shoot out my headlights as im crossing , and i drop 1000 feet into tranny gulch to be washed downstream , and never be seen again..... .....

Its probably the same building that made slick 50 , prolong and all the other snake oil the government finally put out of bizzz.....

Yea they found out the engines did actually run freer after the Teflon in Slick 50 plugged everything up , the bearings starved for oil , everything instantly wore out , and clearances grew 4 times what they were supposed to be from the factory assembly line.....

The SAE "Society of Automotive engineers" took identical engines and ran 1 with regular oil in the engine , and the other with regular oil with Slick 50 , and after running 1 hour took both apart to find the Slick 50 protected engine was worn the equivalent of 200,000 miles in the 1 hour of operation....

Bearings , pistons, and rings were weighed , people shook their heads in amazement of how much ring and bearing material was now powder sitting at the bottom of the oil pan , and all they found was DuPont was right refusing to sell the Teflon to anyone wanting to make magic oil , because all it did was wear everything out making a nice sloppy engine which did spin freer.....

Then Slick got teflon from China to make enermouse profits because dupont refused to be involved in the hoax....

You know if you drain your oil with your engine running it will speed up considerably for a few minuites just because the oil pump isnt pulling 20 hp in parasitic drag.....

Considering opti-2 makes another product basically called "engine rebuild in a can" i really gotta wonder what kinda goop they pour in that stuff and the idea behind the whole opti operation......

Sales , sales and more sales to desperate people wanting magic snake oil.....

When i can pour the opti version of "rebuild in a can" into a engine with a rod hanging out the side of the block , then see it magically fix it that's the day i`ll become a believer.......

That was chapter 1 of volume #22 so ill stop right there before i get into trouble......

                      said enough. tanky,

plus its 10:20 am and i aint ate yet .....
