  • Stihl FS250 vs Shindawa XXX?

My old Stihl FS250 has seen better days. I am seriously thinking about donating it and buying another.

Problem is I bought a Shin 231 and love it. I have had no problems with the FS250 but does anyone have any thoughts about the Shin (which one?) vs. the Stihl? My use is I give it to my #1 guy and see him 4 hours later. Never a problem. I just really like the Shindawa products. How do they stack up against the heavier Stihl?

I will probably go buy another FS-250 unless the Shin is noticeably better. This is just because the Stihl has been one bad a66 trimmer and served me really well.

    Thanks!

Buy a Shin T260 if you can find one. It is the same as the 261, but without the emissions detuning crap.

The 261 is about 1/2 the power of the FS-250. I don't think that Shindawa has a model as big.

      Too bad.
      Thanks anyway.

            Hey 1Chavez,
The 450 is still less power then the Stihl. I am either cutting down nasty fence grass, overgrown crap under orchard trees, blackberries, or general overgrown tall grass in nasty spots that you really need horsepower to clean out on (hopefully) one pass. I don't even use it any more, I like the 231t, but my guy Essedro loves it and can use it 4 hours straight with no problems.
If I was smart I would just take him to the Stihl/Shindawa dealer and let him buy what ever he wants to use. One of those "no-sh1t!" moments...
The FS-250 was the baddest on the block back in 2002 when I first bought it, and it is starting to look like it is going to be a repeat purchase.
Thanks for your opinion. I am just glad Walker does not make trimmers
