Which one and why? What aftermarket brands are the best? Planning on redoing the deck on my 48 Exmark ZTR and dont know if it is worth spending the extra money for the OEM spindles or if it is a waste of money for the aftermarket.

Most of the time I buy aftermarket, but I keep a couple of spares. Easier to just press out the bearings, & put in new ones. One gets bad, I just yank it out, put in the spare, rebuild the other when time permits.Originally posted by btammo View PostWhich one and why? What aftermarket brands are the best? On one of my non JD Z's, I replaced it with a set from my JD dealer.
Bearing size is bearing size. Saved me a trip to the other dealer and was a couple of bucks less !
I always like messing with the new guys at the JD dealer. I tell 'em I need a air filter for my mower, they ask what model I have, I say Grasshopper........ they look up at me real funny and say, "But we don't sell Grasshopper, were a JD dealer ! ..... hahaha ..... A filter is a filter for a motor, don't matter what brand name is on the box it comes in.

don't know much about the aftermarket ones. The way I look at it, spindles are the one of the most vital parts of the machine, I'd spend the extra to buy the same ones that came on the machine. I pick them up from the dealer. I have a few old ones laying around, I'm gonna rebuild them to keep them on hand.
