  • Shindawa bought out?

Anyone hear that Echo will make Shin in the future? I do not know the details and may have this story wrong. Some one who knows please advise what is going on with shin? I definitely heard the min order for dealers , in order to get free shipping, went up to $3,000.

    Thanks.

Echo did buy out Shindaiwa. A local dealer is debating whether or not to keep the their line of products.

I love the Shin products but my experience with Echo has been spotty.
I just hope they don't 'Ryobi' a really great product.

I looked into a Shin 260 today and the dealer said parts will be a problem in the future.
This stinks. I like Shin and was going to buy a shin 260.

You have a place that is selling T260's and 261's? Got a name/number/website??

Echo didn't technically "buy out" Shindaiwa. Both of these companies have parent companies in Japan. The two Japanese companies merged into the Yamabiko Corporation. They are currently sharing manufacturing technologies to make both companies stronger players in the market. Yes, Echo did take over US distribution and service support for Shindaiwa, but they are still manufactured independently of each other at this time. Things may change in the future, but Echo is still Echo and Shidaiwa is still Shindaiwa for now. This information was provided to me by Echo Inc as part of their dealer training network.

My dealer which currently carries both lines , said that Echo's interest in Shindaiwa is mainly with their 4 stroke engines.

Shindaiwa seems to redress the low line Echo to red color as the entry model. The 20" hedge trimmer really look like the Echo HC151. The little 21cc hand held blower have Echo written all over it. The EB633 that replace the EB630 is the Echo PB755.

I don't see any Shindaiwa redress as Echo yet.

Other than that, all the rest of Shindy are real Shindy products.

I have the Echo HC151 and the Shindy articulate hedge trimmer. The blade of the Shindy cuts better, no question about it. Maybe my Echo is an older model before the chrome plated blades. The little Echo is a tuffy, it just don't cut as well, don't feel as sharp.

I was told that Echo and Shindiawa merged and the C4 engine would be used by Echo and Shindiawa would get Echo products for their Home Pro(entry level) line. This was told to me by the area Shindiawa Rep. He also said all service and support would stay the same.
My View: In the last few part orders it takes my dealer 2 days longer to get OE Shindiawa parts, and many things(air cleaner cover, on/off switch, muffler cover etc) are suddenly obsolete for our 7 and 8 yr old trimmers and blowers.
My dealer now stocks only a few small cc Shindiawa trimmers and blowers as he has the Echo line also and says to many echo's will go out the door due to low price and Shindiawa will be gone due to low sales if his display units have a big difference in price.
I bought a 34cc Tanaka trimmer a few yrs back and it's still humming along just fine. This could become our new trimmer/blower company soon.
